Instructions

THIS PRODUCT IS NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN, KEEP AWAY. USE ONLY AS DIRECTED. READ ENTIRE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.

ALWAYS use a safety cap when you are not using the Rattle-Snaker. The Rattle-Snaker includes a piece of safety tubing over the point. The tool is extremely sharp. So BE SMART and BE CAREFUL.

ALSO, do not leave your Rattle-Snaker laying in the hot sun for long periods of time or store in any extreme heat. In rare cases it may cause units to warp in hot conditions and a loss of function. If this happens please let us know, we have multiple versions in the field currently and would love the feedback… and the chance to make things right.

Using the Rattle-Snaker in a field, by a stream, in the rain, in the dark or on a rocking boat will not be the safest option. Please remember that the Rattle-Snaker is about preparation in a calm and comfortable setting. Assembly takes less than 30 seconds. Have a conference call or a ZOOM meeting? Halftime show boring you to tears? These are the times to ask yourself, “Am I ready for the weekend?” Prepping your soft lures before hand will ensure not only safety, but success.

That said, here we go!

STEP 1: Assemble your materials. You only need your Rattle-Snaker, soft plastic lures of choice and the required rattles, weights or both.

STEP 2: Very carefully, with the Rattle-Snaker locked together as shown, insert the point into the lure to the desired location. Keep in mind your intended hook size and style – the location of the rattles or weights should NOT effect the action of the lure as long as they are reasonably buried inside the lure, anywhere centered and out of the hook’s way should be fine. This is the time to be super careful. Rattle-Snakers are VERY sharp. And if you miss your mark, just remove it and try again…. carefully.

STEP 3: Leaving the needle end where it is, separate the Rattle-Snaker back body by gently pulling it away from the front. Newer units may be stiff when locked together and a slight twisting motion should help.

STEP 4: Place a rattle or weight into the back of the front body.

STEP 5: Reinsert the back body rod into the front body and push all the way in.

STEP 6: Slowly and gently pull the entire Rattle-Snaker out, the rattle should be exactly where you want it!!!

WHEN USING WEIGHTS, if the desired weight position is very close to the end of the lure, it can be helpful to squeeze the lure body around the location of the weight while slowly retracting the tool from the lure. This can help keep the weight where you want it.

As always, PRACTICE makes perfect. Experiment with how far into the lure you put the needle to get the desired result.

Now, do 10 more and tomorrow go out and catch some fish!!! Send us a picture of all your catches!

RATTLE RIGGING BASICS:

You NEVER want the rattle touching the shank of the hook or other hard components you may be using. If your cast hits a stump or a dock it can break the rattle from the pressure. Just a tiny gap between them and you can whip that cast as hard as you please and nothing is going to break.

How you decide to rig up is entirely your choice. However, roughly speaking the following images represent some suggested placement locations depending on the exact size and style of hook and bait you are using.

WIDEGAP HOOKS: 99% of the time the best placement is between the point of the hook and the elbow near the eye. These are easiest to rig by inserting the rattles first, and then putting the bait on the hook.

JIG HEADS and other J-Hooks: This can be done a lot of different ways. If size allows, it is highly recommended that the rattle goes completely behind the hook as in the image below on the far left. When using J hooks it is recommended to rig the bait on the hook first, and then feel for the best placement for the rattle. There are so many sizes and variations you will need to experiment with each bait.
